India vs Australia: Kane Richardson ruled out of ODI series, Andrew Tye called up

first_imgAustralia suffered a massive blow ahead of the second Twenty20 Intenational against India when their right-arm fast bowler Kane Richardson was ruled out of the remainder of the tour due to a side strain. After the two-match T20I series, India and Australia will lock horns in a five-match one day international series from March 2.Richardson suffered the injury while batting in the nets last week ahead of the first T20I against India in Vizag. He trained with the team on Tuesday in Bengaluru but after bowling a few deliveries, he left the nets and took no further part in training.”Kane reported some left side pain at training prior to the opening T20I in Vizag,” said Australia team physio David Beakley.”Unfortunately he has not recovered well enough in order to play a further part in the tour. Kane will return home to continue his rehabilitation, and we (will) monitor his progress over the coming weeks,” Beakley added.Meanwhile, Cricket Australia has called up right-arm medium-pacer Andrew Tye to replace Richardson in the squad.Tye has played seven one day internationals taking 12 wickets, with the best of 5 for 46 against England in Perth in January last year.Australia are eyeing their first-ever T20I series victory over India. They currently lead the 2-match series 1-0 after their three-wicket victory in Vizag. Also Read | Did India underestimate Australia in Vizag?
