Nationwide & The Woodland TrustNationwide Building Society has partnered with The Woodland Trust in a deal that will see 20 new woods created in the UK containing 60,000 trees. 50 community groups will also benefit in the £1.25m partnership. Nationwide has pledged to plant a tree for members who opt to go paperless and for every current and future employee, which should see 60,000 trees planted by 2020. Thomas the Baker & Marie CurieYorkshire-based Thomas the Baker has raised £11,500 for Marie Curie, to help fund its nurses in Yorkshire and the North East. Employees from 34 bakery branches and the head office in Helmsley have taken part in a variety of fundraising events throughout the year in support of the charity, including supporting the Great Daffodil Appeal by creating and selling cakes, and sponsored walks. PHMG Foundation & 19 charitiesPHMG Foundation, the charity arm of PH Media Group, is aiming to raise £30,000 this year to share among 19 charities, including The Christie, Children with Cancer UK, Dementia UK, MNDA, and Alzheimer’s Society. Employees from across the business will be taking part in a number of events to raise the money. If the target is reached, the company will match it with an equivalent donation, giving a potential total of £60,000.
